Connecting the world through music
An introduction to IAMIC
The International Association of Music Centres (IAMIC) is a global network of organisations dedicated to documenting, promoting, and connecting the music of their countries and regions. Together, our members serve as key gateways to musical knowledge, creativity, and cultural exchange.
About IAMIC
IAMIC is a dynamic international community. We create opportunities for cooperation across borders and traditions, helping music in all its forms to be discovered, shared, and understood.
Our network of music information centres and related organisations act as interfaces between composers, performers, researchers, cultural institutions, and audiences. Specific to their national context and mission, members engage in a wide range of activities — from collecting and contextualising information on musical life to curating resources, offering expertise, providing music education and supporting visibility for those working in music.
At the heart of IAMIC is collaboration. We build relationships between our members, creating opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange, and partnerships. Through our annual conference, working groups, and collaborative projects, IAMIC facilitates the sharing of expertise, and perspectives, while respecting the diversity of our members, their cultures and practices.
IAMIC also provides a framework for exchanging insights into musical ecosystems, including the structural, cultural, and societal dimensions of music and music making. For some members, this includes contributing research, data, or background knowledge that can inform international dialogue, cooperation, and understanding.
Our vision is to build a leading global network for the exchange of knowledge and expertise in the field of music information through connecting local practices with an international outlook.

IAMIC’s work and conference
IAMIC realises its core mission through the dedication of its membership and its board. Our board meets every 6 weeks, driving our work forward through working groups and regular communication. The IAMIC board is supported in their duties by an Office Manager, who plays an invaluable role in maintaining strong organisation and lines of communication.
Our annual conference, hosted by a different member on a rotating basis, brings our network together to share and learn from one another, and to learn about the music and creative sector of our hosts.
The conference programme seeks to meet the moment. We draw on the experience and expertise of our membership to solve common problems and to achieve shared goals.
We are a network, a community of professionals and we know from experience that we are more resilient, and more able, when we work together.
IAMIC Board
Our board is elected by our memberships and brings together individuals with significant experience and expertise in their fields. All positions are on a voluntary basis.
Our board is entrusted with taking forward the goals and ambitions set out by our strategy, and framed by our membership.
