Introduction
Mica – music austria is the Austrian Music Information Centre and central contact point concerning music in Austria. It supports musicians and the music industry environment as well as cultural institutions, media and policymakers with independent information and advisory services. It also offers opportunities for networking and training, and serves as a trusted partner in the Austrian music scene.

For more than 30 years, mica – music austria has promoted and supported the development of music in Austria through the following main activities:
Mica serves as a key information hub for music in Austria. It manages a comprehensive music database of Austrian contemporary music, issues a digital music magazine, and provides information through various newsletters and an event calendar.
In addition, mica offers free workshops and knowledge sharing for musicians and the music industry environment on topics ranging from media training and funding applications to guidance on rights management.
Mica also offers individual counseling and legal counseling for musicians on more complicated issues that go beyond what is provided on the practical knowledge section of its website.
Furthermore, a key objective is to make Austrian music more visible abroad. Under the umbrella of Austrian Music Export, mica – music austria cooperates with the Austrian Music Funds (OMF) and other partner institutions to support international performances of selected Austrian artists and promote their presence outside Austria through its wide network, thereby supporting international success stories of Austrian musicians.
Lastly, mica supports fair working conditions and equal opportunities for all musicians in Austria through regular exchange with public institutions, universities and professional associations.
Mica was founded in 1994 on the initiative of the Austrian State. It is funded by the Federal Ministry of Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport and by the City of Vienna. Its staff are based in Vienna, Salzburg and Innsbruck.
