Introduction

Iceland Music (Tónlistarmiðstöð) is the national music office of Iceland, serving as a central hub for the Icelandic music sector. The centre provides guidance and support for musicians, companies, organisations, policymakers and the public, both nationally and internationally, while promoting Icelandic music abroad.

About

Established by law in 2023 as a self-owned foundation, Iceland Music brings together industry stakeholders, government authorities and music institutions and organisations in shaping policies and actions for the Icelandic music scene. It manages the Icelandic Music Fund (Tónlistarsjóður), supports the export of Icelandic music, facilitates networking with international partners, and offers consultancy, statistics and research on the Icelandic music industry.

In addition, Iceland Music operates a sheet music service for Icelandic works and promotes initiatives such as “Record in Iceland,” which encourages recording in the country through reimbursement schemes. The centre plays a key role in implementing Iceland’s National Music Policy to 2030 which focuses on music education, music as a profession and the global reach of Icelandic music.

Based in Reykjavík, Iceland Music works closely with a wide range of organisations and employs nine professionals committed to strengthening the infrastructure and visibility of Icelandic music at home and abroad.
