Poland’s Highest Cultural Honour
for the Polish Composers’ Union
The Polish Composers’ Union (ZKP) has been awarded the Gold Gloria Artis Medal for Merit to Culture, the highest distinction of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, in recognition of its outstanding contributions to artistic creation, cultural life, and the protection of national heritage.
Founded in 1945 as a continuation of the pre-war Polish Composers’ Association, ZKP organises the Warsaw Autumn Festival and runs POLMIC, a key resource for contemporary Polish music.
The organisation is currently headed by Prof. Beata Bolesławska-Lewandowska, its first woman president, who described the award as both an honour and an encouragement for further work.
