Miso Music Portugal: Música Viva 2026 Festival – “Insurgency”

Música Viva, Miso Music Portugal’s new music fest, will occur from April 28 to May 3 at the São Luiz Theatre in Lisbon. Entitled “Insurgency”, the festival is, according to its artistic director Miguel Azguime, “a stage for resistance in a world of crises, with music and art acting as sensitive weapons against violence, dehumanisation, and fear. Música Viva seeks not comfort, but friction. It questions, opens fissures and summons new forms of listening, thinking and presence.”

The festival presents new music from Portugal and milestone works by Ligeti, Messiaen, Reich, Rzewski, and Takemitsu. It features Portuguese musicians who have frequently performed at Música Viva and new performers.
