The "Fryderyk 2009" awards of the Phonographic Academy have been presented. The names of the winners were announced on 20th April 2009 during a ceremony in the Salesian Basilica (classical music and jazz) and the "Reed Factory" Arts Centre (popular music) in Warsaw.

The British “Sounds New” Contemporary Music Festival charts new directions in music – promotes various musical genres, provides a public platform for outstanding musicians, commissions new works, presents educational projects and music by the greatest composers of our time as well as promising authors of the younger generations.

The 51st ‘Warsaw Autumn’ International Festival of Contemporary Music was held in Warsaw from 19 to 27 September 2008.
