The German Music Information Centre provides information on all aspects of musical life in Germany; music education, amateur music making, music promotion and funding, orchestras, music theatres and festivals, research and documentation, music in the media and music economy.
The Centre cooperates with information centres and music institutions on the local, state and federal level in order to develop and maintain its services. In the field of contemporary music the Music Information Centre provides information on composers, ensembles, institutions and initiatives, festivals, funding and promotion andpublishers as well as specialized archives and libraries.
At regular intervals the MIZ publishes the Music Almanac which is regarded as the basic reference work on musical life in Germany. Across 1,500 pages, the Music Almanac supplies information on structures, developments and the actors involved in the world of music. The six editions published to date portray a period covering 20 years in the history of German musical life.
